Q: What does the association do?
A: So many things !! Of course, the Boosters do raise funds ... and these funds provide scholarships for school athletes and also significantly augment individual sport's teams funds, as well as help improve the overall infrastructure at the school which benefit all sports. The Boosters also provide an organizational structure that helps volunteers to participate much more effectively in school athletic programs.
Q: Who can be a
member?
A: Anyone. Alumni parents or
community members without children currently at NHS are welcome. Parents
of children in middle school are encouraged to get involved
early.
Q: How do I become
a member?
A: Print and fill out the form on
the Join/Donate page. Send it to the address on the form. It's that
easy!
Q: Are any
contributions tax deductible?
A: Any contribution made may be tax
deductible. NHS Boosters Association is a nonprofit organization. See your tax
accountant for specific details.
Q: How can I get a
web site set-up for my child's sport?
A: All we need is a team webmaster
to volunteer. It's relatively easy for a computer 'techie'.
Q: How can I find
out how much money is in the general fund, scholarship fund or any
individual sport's fund?
A: Treasurer's reports are provided
at every booster club meeting or ask your coach.
Q: Why put so much
effort into sports? How does participating in sports affect
student-athletes?
A: It has been shown through studies
that there are significant performance differences between athletes and
non-athletes. There is apparently a positive correlation between
higher grade-point averages, higher attendance rates, lower discipline referrals,
lower dropout rates, and higher graduation rates. |
